 The Pearl of the Comtat (2h)

Set off to explore and discover the “Pearl of the Comtat”! Let yourself be guided through the narrow shady cobblestone streets and visit the main monuments (Ferrande Tower, Clock Tower, ramparts and old indoor market) of this small medieval town famous for its 40 fountains. The charm of the fortified gates and their chapel, the ramparts and the old indoor market will not fail to impress. From the top of the Clock Tower you can soak up the magnificent views over the Comtat plain and Mont Ventoux.

 Ferrande Tower (1h)

(maximum 25 people – Possibility to make 2 groups for groups of 50)

This 12th century tower shelters a prestigious treasure in the form of its remarkably well-preserved 13th century frescoes depicting, like a giant comic strip, the cavalry battles led by Charles of Anjou in Sicily…Certain to captivate adults and children alike! Not to be missed!

 The Town of 40 Fountains (2x2h)

Discover the Pearl of the Comtat as you have never seen it before…let yourself be guided to the heart of the village and visit the main monuments (morning: Ferrande Tower, the Draper’s Shop and Cormoran square; afternoon: Brancas Mansion, Fléchier House and the Clock Tower). As you wind your way along the narrow streets and across the quaint squares, soak up the peaceful atmosphere of the old town as it unveils its pretty fountains hidden away here and there like precious pearls.

From Monday to Friday : €6 per person / €3 for children between 12 and 18 /Free for under 12

Saturday and Sunday : €9 per person / €4 for children between 12 and 18 /Free for under 12
(This price does not include the meal).

 Life around the Mikveh of Pernes (1½)

Learn about the amazing history of the Pope’s Jews! Expelled from the kingdom of France, some found refuge in the Comtat and settled in what are still referred to today as the Jewish quarters. Come and discover the daily life of the small community of Jews in Pernes in the middle ages established around the mikveh…and discover at the heart of the Cheylus mansion, all the Comtat Jewish traditions and rituals.

From Monday to Friday : €3 per person and free for under 16s. Saturday and Sunday group price: €5 per person and free for under 16s.

For more convenience, the Pernes les Fontaines tourist office also offers tailor-made tours, based on the same prices and duration.

Terms & Conditions

Important! Some of these monuments are accessed via narrow or steep steps which may pose a real obstacle for people with reduced mobility.

In June, July, August and September the Tourist Office offers a predefined programme of guided tours. Consequently, no bookings for “turnkey” or “tailor-made” group visits can be accepted for this period. (see summer guided tours programme)

Please confirm the number of participants 3 days before the tour.

Beyond this deadline and in the event of cancellation, the Tourist Office reserves the right to invoice the service on the basis of the number of participants originally booked on the tour.

Wherever possible, the Tourist Office provides two guides for groups of more than 40 people. (No supplement).

On the day of the tour, in the event of a late arrival without prior notification and exceeding 20 min, the Tourist Office reserves the right to cancel the service and release the guide.

The Tourist Office accepts exchange vouchers.

Payment can be made at the end of the tour, either in cash, or by check made payable to the “Trésor Public”.

The Tourist Office reserves the right to modify the programme or cancel the service in the event of force majeure.
